Some of My Favorite Great Leadership Quotes

Welcome to this post on great leadership quotes.  I often go on the search for great leadership quotes that I can share on social media.  Since we build our business online using Facebook and other social media sites, it’s important to always engage with your followers.  One easy way to do that is to share amazing and inspiring quotes with your audience.  You can even take it a step further and share an image with your quotes or even better use one of the many image creator applications out there to insert quotes on one of your favorite images.  I love using PicMonkey.

So let’s get started!

“I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody.” – Herbert Swope

I learned the hard way when it comes to the above quote.  I use to try and please everyone and found out very quickly that I was just completely unhappy.  It wasn’t until a mentor of mine said this, “Michelle, the reason why you are unhappy is because you rely on other people for that happiness, you need to make yourself happy.”  Wow, that was a huge light bulb moment for me and from that point forward I discovered happiness and realized I was the only person in control of my own happiness.

“A man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd.” – Max Lucado

Yes indeed, you can’t lead if you are facing the crowd.  Love this quote.  As a leader we must always be plowing forward and leading the way.

“Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.” – Publilius Syrus

So true….leaders are the people who can ride through the storms and come out swinging.  I know for myself that every storm I have been through a rainbow of success always appears on the other side.  In fact I love storms because I know there will be a rainbow just on the other side.  That’s what motivates me to keep pushing through the storms of our business and life.

“Successful leaders see the opportunities in every difficulty rather than the difficulty in every opportunity.”- Reed Markham

What a great quote.  Kind of like, is the glass half empty or half full?  It’s all about how you look at things.  When something difficult comes your way view it as a challenge that you will learn to conquer and grow from .  Without challenges we do not grow, so embrace those challenges.

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right–for you’ll be criticized anyway.” Eleanor Roosevelt

This one is so true.  As a leader you will always have someone who criticizes you.  I have always said if I don’t have any haters I must not being doing it right.

Here are some other great leadership quotes, without my commentating.

“A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” Rosalynn Carter

“Leaders think and talk about the solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems.” Brian Tracy

“Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out.” Stephen Covey

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams

“The secret of a leader lies in the tests he has faced over the whole course of his life and the habit of action he develops in meeting those tests.” Gail Sheehy

“A leader is someone who believes in you and gets you to believe in yourself.”

“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Harold R. McAlindon

“In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.”  Theodore Roosevelt

And….one of my favorite great leadership quotes that I like to share with people:

“People look at successful people and they want what they have but they aren’t willing to walk the road travelled to get there.” – Michelle Pescosolido
