Step #1 – Consistency
Consistency is key if you want to get more Twitter followers.
The first thing you will want to do is set up a schedule out send out tweets on a regular basis.
I’m talking several times a day to the tune of at least one tweet per hour.
I know some people who tweet out every 15 minutes.
While I don’t think it’s necessary to post that many times a day to get results, posting regularly will certainly increase your follower engagement.

“Tweet every hour? I don’t have time to do that nor would I even remember to do that every hour!”
The good news is there are many programs out there you can take advantage of to help with your automation.

One of the strategies we like to use is to tweet inspirational quotes and images.
This makes for great filler content and seriously, who doesn’t like to be inspired for the day?
Promote positivity with your message and always make sure it’s relevant to your niche.

This strategy has helped us increase our Twitter followers just from the retweets we get to new users on Twitter.
Step #3 – Start Following Other Followers
This can be done either manually or with some sort of automation.
Once you start following other followers on Twitter you’ll find that there is a good chance these people will follow you back.
We’re all about automation and use a program called StatusBrew.

Plus, it’s a lot more user friendly to use than to actually manually follow people on Twitter.
Step #4 – Set A Schedule To Follow People
Set up a schedule each day and follow a certain number of people who follow the people within your niche.

If you follow 50 people a day you can figure that half of those will follow you back thus increasing your following.
Step #5 – Join A Twitter Chat
Search for active hashtags that are receiving a lot of chatter.
Join in on the conversation and share your input.
Steer clear of controversial topics, such as politics or religion.
Instead, focus on hashtags that are humorous or helpful.
You can either respond to existing tweets or just jump in and start tweeting about the hashtag.
If the hashtag is popular, it shouldn’t take long to get some responses.
Step #6 – Actively Engage Your Followers
In order to actively engage your followers you should ask questions frequently.
One way to do this is to simply end your tweets in the form of a question.
This will encourage followers to interact, which can also attract new followers.
Also, always maintain a professional tone that reflects the interests of your business.
