Recently I posted a status update on my personal page asking my business friends a question.

The question asked if they were interested in learning more about how I got over 550K organic views on a video that I had posted.

Here’s the deal… if  you’re using Facebook for business you know that reaching over 550K organically is huge!

In this article I’ll reveal to you what I did to reach over 550k people organically with one video.

I’ll also give you several tips on what you need to focus on if you want to reach more people with your videos.


Facebook For Business: Lets Reach More People

On March 2, 2016, I saw a message from Facebook announcing the celebration of over 3 million advertisers.
That’s three million companies from all over the world, with more than 70% from outside of the U.S.

Facebook went on to explain that each of these businesses has a unique story and mission.

Whether it’s fashion or fitness, confidence or creativity, each business offers something to its customers and communities that is unique to them.

So to celebrate the businesses that use their advertising platform, Facebook created Your Business Story.

“Your Business Story” is a tool that makes it easy to create a video that shows what your business brings to the world.
You see, Facebook believes the best way to tell the story of three million businesses is to empower each of those businesses to share their own story.
So as a good Facebook advertiser, I decided to jump on board and share our story using their new Business Story tool.



How To Use The “Your Business Story” Tool

Using the new “Your Business Story” tool is quite easy; just follow the steps below and see for yourself!
  1. Go to this LINK to start setting your business story up
  2. Choose the Fan Page that you want to build your story around
  3. Choose 8 images from that business Fan Page using the business story tool
  4. Fill in the blanks, “We are in the business of _________________’
  5. Confirm your story
  6. Choose music
  7. Then share it to your Facebook Fan Page

As you can see Our Story was posted on March 3rd and two days later the video had already reached over 550,000 people and over 20,000 views!

None of my videos have ever gone this viral which led me to dig further into why….


Why Did Our Facebook Business Story Go So Viral?

Well it wasn’t just a fluke.

As a test we also used the “Your Business Story” tool on another Fan Page of ours and the same thing happened.  Outstanding results.

facebook for businessThis other Fan page doesn’t have as many fans but this video clearly got more views and reach than any other video we have uploaded in the past.

You see, after doing some research we discovered that Facebook considers “Your Business Story” to be one of their own tools.

As a result, Facebook is going to reward the advertisers who use their new tool by giving those videos more exposure.

Furthermore, my research revealed that Facebook For Business recently announced a new change in the news feed when it comes to LIVE videos.

Now that more and more people are watching Live videos, we are considering Live Videos as a new content type – different from normal videos – and learning how to rank them for people in News Feed. As a first step, we are making a small update to News Feed so that Facebook Live videos are more likely to appear higher in News Feed when those videos are actually live, compared to after they are no longer live. People spend more than 3x more time watching a Facebook Live video on average compared to a video that’s no longer live. This is because Facebook Live videos are more interesting in the moment than after the fact.”


How You Can Benefit From The “Your Business Story” Tool

There are two main ways for you to benefit moving forward:

  1. Go make a “Share Your Story” video HERE.  In fact make a new one once a week while this tool is still available so you can get more exposure to your business.
  2. Start doing more LIVE videos from your Facebook Fan Page.  The only drawback would be if your Facebook page isn’t verified.  You can go to this link, HERE to see if you can get your page verified.


For those of you who want to take this to the next level here’s what you should do…

… Run a Facebook Ad to boost your video either right from the page or from your ad manager.

This will allow your new “Share Your Story” video to reach even more people!  


The Bottom Line…

Bottom line is both of these two types of videos (Your Business Story and Live video) have resulted in more reach, more engagement, and more traffic for our business.  We know this to be true by testing this on multiple Facebook Fan Pages that we run.
