In today’s video I want to talk about The Power of Forgiveness. What does it mean to truly forgive someone, and most importantly WHO is forgiveness for? Is it for YOU or for those you are forgiving?
Often times it can be hard to try to forgive and forget. We get hurt by someone, or we assume things are happening and we internalize them. It can be very challenging to be placed in situations where you are being hurt by those you love.
Embracing The Power of Forgiveness.
What I’ve come to realize is that sometimes holding on to the anger and hurt that was cause by someone else leaves me drained emotionally. You see forgiveness isn’t for the other person, it’s for yourself. It helps you move on, to heal, to be able to live your life in a way that is at peace. It’s much easier said than done, sure, but it’s worth it.
I decided to forgive a few people here in the last week or so, and since doing so better things have come into my life. Don’t me wrong, I am not blameless, sure I did some things as well to these individuals at one point or another that may have been considered hurtful, but I guess that’s what we do sometimes when we ourselves have been hurt. We think that if we feel pain, that causing pain in return might ease our pain. When in fact all were doing is just putting more negative energy into the world, by doing these we just get further from realizing the power of forgiveness.
I know it can be hard to embrace the power of forgiveness, but I can assure you that it’s well worth it. Holding on to that negative energy, and those negative feeling of hurt only prolong our suffering. Being able to embrace forgiveness not only for others but to truly be able to forgive ourselves for the pain we may have caused others is crucial. That is how we can achieve the power of forgiveness.
