It seems that every time you think you got Facebook figured out the new updates for Facebook come around every couple of weeks. I’m here to help you stay up to date, because Facebook in constantly making changes.
In the past updates from all your friends were viewed in your News Feed. That means if your “so called” friend just bought a new pair of shoes, that you could careless about , you saw the status update. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just see mores stories from your “Good” friend instead of just your so called aquaintances?
Enter in new updates for Facebook called the subscribe button. This is Facebook’s newest update. Here’s what will happen:
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
Let’s start with #1 of the new updates for Facebook
Choose What You See in News Feed
You already get your friends’ posts in News Feed. With the addition of the new subscribed button, you can choose how much you see from them:
- All updates: Everything your friend posts
- Most updates: The amount you’d normally see
- Important updates only: Just highlights, like a new job or move
You can also decide what types of updates you see. For example, you could see just photos from one friend, no stories about games from another, and nothing at all from someone else.
Choosing what you see is optional. If you don’t want to change what you see from someone, just ignore the button.
Subscribe to Interesting People
Lets say you like journalists, artists, or public figures but you are not friends with them the subscribe button lets you hear from them when updates are posted. Just click the button to get their public updates right in your news feed.
Just like with friends, you can choose how many and what types of updates you see after you’ve subscribed.
Get Your Own Subscribers as Mentioned in the New Updates For Facebook
Yep, you can now share your updates to more than just friends by getting a subscribe button added to your profile. People who subscribe to you will now get posts you set as “public” in their news fee.
So how do you do this? Let people subscribe by going to the Subscriptions Page and click Allow Subscribers.
Once you allow subscribers, you can decide who can comment and what notifications you get. You’ll also see a Subscribers tab on your profile, where you can see who subscribes to you.
