Feeling Demotivated? Try These 5 Tips To Help You Regain Your Motivation.
Feeling demotivated is something every entrepreneur feels from time to time.
Heck every person whether an entrepreneur or not feels it, so don’t beat yourself up over the lack of motivation.
Listen….feeling demotivated from time to time is okay, but when it effects your life and/or your business then you have a problem.
Let’s be honest you probably know what you need to do but you just can’t bring yourself to do it when you’re feeling demotivated.
In this article I am going to give you 5 proven tips on how to quit feeling demotivated in your business.
Here are 5 steps to take if you are feeling demotivated:
1.) What’s Your WHY?
A mentor of mine told me long ago that my WHY better be bigger than any excuses that I can make. If it’s not….I would quit.
I found this to be very true.
So early on I took time to define my WHY and you should too.
Ask yourself WHY do you do what you do and is your WHY big enough to get you through those days when you are feeling demotivated?
Chances are if you are feeling demotivated you are probably creating a lot of excuses as to why you aren’t doing what you know you should be doing.
Being an entrepreneur is hard work. It will be overwhelming at times. You will become frustrated and want to quit. You will lose your focus and sometimes your way.
But, the way to get yourself back on track is to REMEMBER your WHY.
If your WHY is not big enough it’s time to go back to the drawing board and create a new WHY.
2) Don’t Think Of The BIG Task: Think In Small Steps That Make Up That Task
Probably the #1 reason why we get overwhelmed as entrepreneurs is because we think about all the steps that it’s going to take to get to the final outcome.
One of the best books I have read on this subject was called Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.
Here’s the summary:
“The Slight Edge is a way of thinking, a way of processing information that enables you to make the daily choices that will lead you to the success and happiness you desire. Learn why some people make dream after dream come true, while others just continue dreaming and spend their lives building dreams for someone else. The Slight Edge is not just another self-help tool for traveling the path to success. It is the doorway to creating powerful results in any area of your life, by using tools you already hold within you.”
My biggest take away is this…
… when I start feeling demotivated I just take things one step at time.
Just one of the steps that I need to take to achieve a desired outcome.
Breaking it down this way will help defeat the overwhelming feelings you have.
Think of your project in terms of steps.
As each small step is completed, realize that you’re one step closer to achieving your desired outcome.
3) Keep Things Simple
You know your business and you should know what steps you need to take to be successful. So write down what those steps are.
Often times, if we journal our activities throughout the day you will most likely find you are spending a lot of time on unproductive time sucking activities that are most likely costing you money.
As an internet marketer myself there are really just a few things I need to make sure I am doing every single day to be successful and quite frankly…..they truly are pretty simple.
When I fall into the trap of thinking I need to learn something new, or I need to do what another successful person is doing, or I feel the need to reinvent the wheel, this is when I end up frustrated, overwhelmed, lost, and ultimately demotivated.
Watch your activities throughout the day. If you have identified what you need to do each day to be successful keep that on a notepad next to your workspace and follow those steps each day to stay the course.
4) Take Some Time Off
Depending on your type of work ethic take a break or some time off when you are feeling demotivated or overwhelmed.
Breaks and/or some time off can give you a fresh new perspective on the things you are doing and gives you the ability to check in with yourself.
This is the perfect time to relax, take a few breaths, and focus on just you. It’s like a reset button.
You’d be surprised how effective just walking away from your work and taking a nice walk on a nice day can recharge your work machine.
5) Take Time To Get HIGH Again
No, no not that kind of high.
I mean that high feeling you got when you were feeling full of motivation and inspired to go out the crush it.
Think about who inspires you. Who motivates you.
Seek those people out and watch their videos, listen to their audios, listen to their songs, read their blogs and give yourself a quick injection of that HIGH you first felt that motivated you in the past.
You know the high doesn’t last forever so remember to take time in your daily routine or weekly routine whatever is needed to plug in and get HIGH on your motivation again.
Don’t wait on someone to drag you across the finish line. It’s all up to you.
Take action, implement these tips to getting demotivated and get back to doing what you LOVE.
