Once a year we like to put out a post on our best online marketing tools that we use in our own business.
The reason why is because we get questions daily on what we recommend using when it comes to…
- Marketing systems
- Capture page systems
- Facebook ad tools
- Facebook automation tools
- Best courses for various marketing methods
… and the list goes on!
So… in this article we’ll break down our best marketing tools that we use in our own business and we recommend that you use them too.
Be sure to bookmark this page!
Here we go…..
Our Best Online Marketing Tools
A2 Hosting – We have been building businesses online since 2010 and have gone through many different hosting companies. Now you may be wondering what makes a good hosting company and why would we leave a particular company, as we have in the past. Well, there are a few reasons:
- Poor customer support
- Long hold times for support
- Not having 24 hour access to support
- Poor security protection on sites which leads to high vulnerability
- Not user friendly
The biggest reason why we left GoDaddy, Hostgator and Bluehost was due to security.
All those different hosting companies we had our sites hacked and the customer support team were not helpful at all or responsive to our dire needs.
Therefore, after searching high and low we were recommended to try out A2 Hosting. The customer support is amazing and the response time is fast. They even have built in security at no extra cost to protect your sites.
I can’t stress this enough….we have been hacked, not just on 1 site at a time but 10. It was a nightmare and took me over a week to get all the sites cleaned up.
If you plan on hosting don’t just choose any company, choose wisely and this is why we recommend A2 hosting.
WP Engine – I can’t stress enough how important speed of your site is and safety. Likely if you have a wordpress blog you will eventually get hacked, like we did due to outdated plugins where the hackers found a back door.
I searched high and low for a solution and instead of hosting our blog on a generic hosting site, I went to WP Engine where this company specializes in hosting WordPress blogs. They handle all the security for you.
Facebook Advertising Tools:
Ad Espresso – This is one tool that we can’t live without and has made our life so much easier when it comes to creating Facebook ads. It has all the features of the Power Editor, but much more user friendly. I hate the Power Editor by the way….. Bottom line make more money in less time with Ad Espresso.
Ad Espresso gives you the ability to split test, optimize, create multiple ads all in a few simple clicks. No more creating multiple different ads in the ad manager to split test, as ad espresso has a feature that will do it for you just by checking off a few selections. It’s Facebook ads on steroids, I like to say.
Ad Espresso has many powerful features and again….our most favorite tool. You can even get a FREE trial to test out the program
Facebook Post Automation:
Post Planner – I love automation! Post Planner has been a great find for our business.
What I love about Post Planner is anytime I am stuck on what to post on Facebook to increase my engagement on my Fan Page, I can always find amazing content ideas on this site.
From images, to articles, to status ideas, and more. You can schedule out all of your Facebook posts for the day or the entire year if you wish. All scheduling can be done right from the Post Planner back office.
Another great feature I love is the share bar you can create to drive traffic to your website or to generate leads.
For example, I may find an interesting article from Entrepreneur.com and decide to share it with my audience. When I create my share bar, just one time, I can add this to the top of the article I am sharing with my audience.
Once the viewer clicks on my status update to view the article they will see a share bar at the top where they can opt in to our list or visit our site, etc…. It’s all customizable. A great feature to get more leads and traffic just by sharing articles found in Post Planner.
Sync Sumo – For those of you using Infusion Soft this is a great program that updates your custom audiences within your ad manager. Most open rates of emails are around 6%-15% out of all subscribers.
Knowing this we use Sync Sumo to create a custom audience of our email subscribers automatically in our ad manager. Then we can create a Facebook ad and target our new custom audience on Facebook that consists of our email subscribers.
I love the fact that the custom audience is updated every 24 hours. So if you are adding new subscribers to your list daily, your custom audience is also growing daily via Facebook.
SEO Pressor – We definitely do on page optimization for SEO purposes. I love SEO Pressor as there is a check list once you insert your keyword you are using on your blog post to make sure you have optimized your post for the best SEO performance. Also I love the suggestions SEO Pressor gives to improve your SEO performance of your posts.
Pretty Link – I love Pretty Link for a couple of reasons. First off it makes all of your ugly long affiliate URL’s look pretty.
For example instead of http://awesomeproduct.com/47632/id48488/?=4848, you can take that link and make it pretty by pasting that ugly link into Pretty Link and Pretty Link will spit out something like this: onlinewealthpartner.com/am.
That’s it! Oh and that Pretty Link you just created redirects to your original link. Much more reliable than bit.ly and other shortening link services.
Header & Footer Code – If you do any sort of re marketing like we do with Facebook then this plug in is a must. Easy to install and simple to use when you need to insert a pixel on your blog or individual blog posts.
Sales Funnels/Capture Pages:
Two options here and I have to say I use both. My suggestion is to find the one that works for you and your business.
Click funnels also has an affiliate platform built in if you want to run an affiliate program. You can also host a membership program on click funnels. More features, but that’s not to say Lead Pages isn’t great. Lead Pages is simple to use but just lacking a some additional features that Click Funnels offer.
Again we use both of them when it comes to creating capture pages, sales funnels, sales pages, etc….
Google Analytics – Google Analytics is our go to tool when it comes to tracking behaviors & visits to our website. Simple to set up and simple to use. We check Google Analytics periodically to see how much traffic we are getting to our sites, where the traffic is coming from and much more.
Aweber – Every online marketer needs an autoresponder, a place to house all of their subscribers. I find it baffling that many marketers try to build a business without an autoresponder. This should be one of the first investments you make in your online business. The size of your list determines how much money you will make in your business, provided you are marketing to it correctly. They say on average every subscriber equals about a $1 a month to you in your business. For example if you have 5,000 subscribers on your list, you should be making around $5,000 a month.
Aweber is the go to company we recommend. Easy to use and very helpful customer support.
Vimeo – We use Vimeo to host all of our training videos that go into our membership sites because we can remove all the video hosting’s branding from the video.
There are many other great features to Vimeo when customizing your video, such as where you want the viewer to go when your video ends, integration options and many other features that YouTube does not offer.
YouTube – Great for putting up videos on the #1 video platform on the internet, but again we just don’t use YouTube for our course videos. Other than that YouTube is great!
Polsem Lavalier Mic – Early on in our marketing career we just winged it when it came to making videos. Then we realized we needed to step up our game a bit. So we invested in a lavalier mic to attach to our clothing.
This gives us the ability to have crisp quality sound and we don’t have to stand so close to the camera to pick up audio.
Canon Vixia G30 – I gotta say I have about 5 different cameras laying around our house due to not doing my research. This camera gives us everything we were looking for when it comes to recording videos.
Many of the cameras we chose previously didn’t have a plug in for the lavalier, you needed someone on the other side to focus as it did not have autofocus, the recorded files were difficult to upload to the computer and edit, and I am sure there were a few more but that’s a good start.
This Canon is amazing and offers all the features we were needing but we did not realize until we made those mistakes of buying all those other cameras. Well worth the money.
Teleprompter – Okay there will come a time when you do need a teleprompter unless you are just awesome at memorizing exactly what you need to say in a video for your sales letter.
This isn’t meant to be used in all your videos as you don’t want to sound scripted, but I will say this…..reading from a teleprompter takes practice to come across natural. We picked this up recently and has been very helpful for when we are doing videos and our coaching clients need to go off of a script.
Rode Mic – There will be a time where you want to record a video from your smart phone and your standard lavalier mic won’t work. This one is great and is compatible with a smart phone.
Yeti – We love our Yeti and use this mic when we do webinars, Google hangouts, or just recording our voices as we show our screen. We have had our Yeti for almost 4 years and have no complaints at all.
GoToWebinar – Every marketer should consider hosting webinars as it can give a huge boost to your business. It’s a great way to communicate with your followers. We have used GoToWebinar since 2010 and have no complaints at all.
In fact new webinar platforms have come out since we started hosting webinars and we have tried them out but always seem to find our way back to GoToWebinar. Reliable and easy to use. You can also use GoToMeeting to hold quick last minute meetings.
Trainings & Marketing Systems:
AMF is a great option for many new affiliates to promote as an irresistible offer to generate leads. Also a great program to buy as it is inexpensive (under $50) to grasp the concept of what Attraction Marketing is and how to use it in your own business.
Most marketers miss this key component when it comes to building a business online, especially via social media. I can spot a marketer failing a mile away and 9 times out of 10 it’s because they have not mastered Attraction Marketing.
Not only is Elite Marketing Pro equipped with…
- A lead capture page system
- A blogging platform
- Worldclass training
- A helpful and supportive community…
… but they also have coaching in place to walk you through the system and training to help groom you into an excellent online marketer.
Additionally, there are opportunities to attend workshops and live events throughout the year.
Best Facebook Training:
Social Media Branding Academy – Well I have to toot my own horn here. I have seen a lot of Facebook trainings out there and I have analyzed them extensively.
Most are missing key components to set you up for success properly.
I took all that into consideration and created the most extensive Facebook Marketing course that teaches the exact methods we use today in our own business.
So if you are looking to take your passion and build it into a profitable, money making business, then Social Media Branding Academy is the only Facebook training you’ll ever need.
Photo & Video Editing:
Screenflow – When it comes to recording our screen whether we are doing a webinar and need a back up recording or a screen tutorial, we use Screenflow for all of our recording needs. Easy to use and once you are done editing your video via Screenflow you can upload your video directly to YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, etc…
Canva – Canva is a great program to create awesome custom designed images. There are thousands of photos and templates already available in Canva but you can also upload your own photos to customize. We use Canva to create our Facebook Ad images and Facebook status updates and even our blog post images.
Jing – Need to capture an image on your screen or shoot a quick screen capture video in less than 5 minutes? This is our go to program and I have to say we use this every single day in our business. A definite must have.
WuFoo Forms – There will come a time when you need to build a form with various questions you will want to ask your audience. Whether that be via your website or via email. WooFu is a great resource when it comes to creating forms easily.
The forms even integrate with many different merchant accounts if you want to also collect payments via your forms. We use WuFoo forms to create strategy session forms, coaching request forms, surveys, etc…. Very easy to use.
Evernote – Okay I have to say I fought for years on this one. I finally broke down and committed to using what everyone claimed was a must have program. Well they were right. I love Evernote!
Whether I am on my phone and need to take some notes or on my computer, it’s simple to use and all your notes are stored in one place.
You can access your notes from any computer or mobile device by just logging in. What’s also great about Evernote is the ability they give you to share your notes with another person.
Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drive – Another great program to store all your presentation slides, documents, sheets, photos, etc…. The program is all internet based so all you need to do is log in from any computer to access your work. You can even share with another email address and give them the ability to edit.
Last Pass – I am horrible when it comes to remembering passwords and where I put those passwords. Last Pass is a life saver as it stores all your passwords for you. Plus if you ever need to give someone access to one of your accounts but you don’t want to share the password, you can share it via Last Pass and it will give them access to the account, but not share the actual password. You can also revoke access.
All right! Phew! Did we miss anything? I didn’t expect to take so long to write this post. I am three hours in now. I hope you found value in this and I appreciate you taking time to take a peek into our business to see the online marketing tools that we use on a regular basis.
