Dynamic Creative Facebook Ads

[Editors Note: Dynamic Creative Facebook Ads are still being rolled out to advertisers as of writing this post]

Thanks to Facebook’s newly released dynamic creative Facebook ads…

… marketers can now create multiple ad combinations in just one ad.

Yup, you heard that right!

You can now have several variations (image, call to action, ad copy) in one Facebook ad.

I’ll explain in more detail in a moment, but this should come as great news for marketers who are on a smaller advertising budget.

Let’s dive into this a bit deeper so you can see how Dynamic Creative Facebook ads and see how Facebook’s latest advertising update will impact you.

Dynamic Creative Facebook Ads: How They Work

Dynamic Creative ads will automatically rotate a series of ad variants based on the following components.

Right now dynamic creatives are only available with the following ad objectives and placements:

Objectives:

  • Conversions
  • App installs
  • Traffic

Placements:

  • Facebook Newsfeed on desktop and mobile
  • Right hand column
  • Instagram feed
  • Audience Network classic
  • Audience Network In-stream video
  • Audience Network rewarded video

The maximum number of total assets you can use for creating variations is 30 but as seen below there are limits to each variation:

  • Title: maximum of 5 titles
  • Image/Video: maximum of 10 images or 10 videos
  • Text: maximum of 5 bodies of text
  • Description: maximum of 5 descriptions
  • CTA: maximum of 5 CTAs

What This Means For Facebook Advertisers

In the past we always recommended Ad Espresso for testing multiple variations of an ad.

Ad Espresso makes it easy to test multiple variations by allowing you to set up one ad, then add in multiple variations such as…

  • Images
  • Text
  • Descriptions
  • Call To Action buttons
  • etc…

The end result is multiple different ads.

The only issue with doing this is when you create multiple ads under one campaign.

When you create multiple ads under one campaign Facebook runs the ads against each other.

In other words, Facebook determines which ads are performing better and they will stop showing the other ads.

This means you’re not in control of which ads are shown and which aren’t.

(the jury is still out on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing)

How Dynamic Creative Facebook Ads Can Impact You

It all boils down to this…

If you have a small budget (less than $20 a day) dynamic creative ads are the way to go.

And here’s the reason why:

Your budget will be spent on just one ad with Facebook rotating through variations based on how efficient the results are for each impression that is served.

However, if you have a larger budget (over $50 a day) then I recommend you use dynamic creative ads along with a program like ad espresso to create multiple ads.

The big difference is dynamic creative Facebook ads will create one ad and rotate variations in one ad and Ad Espresso will split those variations up in multiple ads.

Check out the video below as I walk you through how to activate dynamic creative Facebook ads feature and how to set up your first dynamic creative ad.

Final Thoughts:

So as you can see, Dynamic Creative Facebook ads are a great way for you to benefit from multiple variations of your ad even if you’re on a relatively small advertising budget.

We see this as a game changer for the small business, home based business, or “solo-preneur” who doesn’t have thousands of dollars per month to allocate towards Facebook advertising.

So let’s swing it back to you…

Do you have the Dynamic Creative Facebooks ad feature in your ad manager or power editor?

If so have you started using the feature?
